Sitting Alone is a creative practice by Joey Swerdlin.

Why sit alone?

Ask Billie Holiday, bell hooks, Benjamin Edgar, or Google.

For me, it’s the primary place I create.

Sitting Alone is a receptacle for thoughts and reactions to the world around.

This website is a platform to showcase projects, thoughts, and sell selected objects.

The chair is the central figure used to express emotion and character and comment on society and culture. These Ideas are explored through hand-crafted furniture, jewelry, sculpture, drawings, paintings, and print material.

Drawing is the foundation of the practice. From there, three dimensional pieces crafted in wood, steel, silver, gold, glass, or paint always attempt to maintain the whimsy of the initiating lines.
